
Within the framework of participation in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Implementation of NATO Standards in Ukraine: Achievements and Prospects”, held September 23 in Lviv Franko University, the Vice President of the Independent Analytical Center for Geopolitical Studies “Borysfen Intel”, Ph.D. in Military Science, Associate Professor, Lieutenant-General (ret.) Yuriy Radkovets gave an interview for the program “In Focus” of the TV channel of the Independent Television Agency (NTA), Lviv. In the program also participated an officer of the Western Regional Media Centre of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Skorostetskyi.
The authors of the program invited Yuriy Radkovets for a talk in order to get authoritative answers to the problematic questions about the prospects of Ukraine’s accession to NATO against the background of the results of the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s two-day visit to Ukraine when a number of documents on strategic cooperation between Ukraine and NATO were signed.
Among other things, as part of the television program, those present discussed and commented on topical issues relating to: the positive from the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s first visit to Ukraine; the joint exercises and trainings of units of the Armed Forces, National Guard and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine with the relevant units of NATO member countries, the European Union and other countries, as well as the exchange of experience between them; the state and progress of reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine in accordance with NATO standards; first achievements and problems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the implementation of standards and compliance with NATO; peculiarities of the military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and NATO member countries; the experience of Ukraine’s Armed Forces’ participation in the anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine, and other issues.
Discussion of these current issues was accompanied by pieces from the TV news about real events in Ukraine.
